About ARROGANT DEVIL
Everyone in Cedar Creek, Texas, knows Jack McNight is an arrogant devil. Physically, I get it: he’s tan and fit, with coal-black hair that’s clearly been scorched by hellfire. Oh, and his personality? It burns just as hot.
When I show up on the doorstep of Blue Stone Ranch, I’m run-down and rockin’ my last pair of underwear. I’m hoping for a savior, but instead, I find him.
My opinion of Jack is marred by a dismal first impression, but his opinion of me is tainted even before I arrive. He’s heard I’m a spoiled princess there to take advantage of his goodwill. To him, I’m more trouble than I’m worth.
Our button-pushing banter should get under my skin. His arrogance should be a major turn-off. Problem is, devils are known to offer their own form of temptation.
Every one of his steely glares sends a shiver down my spine.
Every steamy encounter leaves me reeling.
Sure, it could be the Texas heat messing with my head, but there’s no way I’ll survive the summer without silencing him with a kiss and wrestling him out of those Wranglers.
Who knows…going to bed with the devil might just be the salvation I’ve been looking for all along.

R.S Grey never really fails to deliver an awesome story. I loved the tale of Jack and Meredith!!
Meredith is living the “dream life” in Hollywood with her famous executive producer husband. But she’s a part of a marriage that defies even the most fake of people. Her husband is a master manipulator; to Meredith and everyone around them. He’s verbally abused Meredith so much over the years that she is conditioned to think that it’s somewhat normal. But after some self reflection, Meredith decides it’s time to ditch the douchebag. But over the years of hob-knobbing with the rich and famous, Meredith has alienated her family. And realizes that she has no real friends either because they were all acquaintances of her husband. So when she reaches out to her half-sister in Texas for a hand during her rough times, she’s met with a little more resistance than she expected but her half-sister pulls through with a job at the ranch she works on.
I was angry with Meredith’s half-sister for essentially bad mouthing her to the boss before she arrived. She didn’t even really know her half-sister to pass so much judgement. Yeah ok they were a little estranged but what would she gain by making her sister sound so horrible?? So of course Jack (the ranch owner and resident cowboy hottie) is being fed someone else’s opinion and taking it for face value because his most trusted employee is telling him so. I hated that Meredith was judged by Jack before he even got to know her. And he continued on with his beliefs for a while without getting to know her properly so that way he could make his own judgments. It’s unfair to pass judgment on someone when your slate isn’t so clean. But such is the way of the world.
The energy between Jack and Meredith is fire!!! The back and forth when they were hating each other was such foreplay to when they realize they don’t hate each other and then who needs foreplay at that point??? I love that even though Meredith was clearly used to a lifestyle prior to coming to the ranch, she never once gave up. She persevered through the shock of being on her own for the first time in a strange town. I give her lots of props for that. She never once looked down on the small town folk like she was above them. I loved her character.
Jack was a burly beast with a thorn in his foot. Never really moving on from events in his past. Well until Meredith came along. There’s always that one person that can see through all the bullshit you’re spewing. That one person that was made to be your equal. The meeting of these two was nothing short of fate and a family member sticking their neck out (even if it was not really supportive in the beginning).
If you need an angsty story with some cowboy thrown in for good measure…..an enemies to lovers story….then this is it!!!
