There are two kinds of women in the world – those I can bang, and those I can’t.
My teammate’s sister?
She’s a can’t.
I moved in with her to protect her from a nasty ex, not to be the next guy in line.
She’s the brains.
I’m the brawn.
She’s the fruit.
I’m the sausage.
She talks too much.
I don’t talk at all, if I don’t have to.
Should be easy to resist her.
But every minute I spend with Felicity is another minute she gets under my skin. She makes me feel like something more than a dumb puckhead with a big Zamboni pony. And it’s getting harder to remember why I need to keep my hands to myself.
Beauty and the Beefcake is a vegan-friendly standalone romantic comedy featuring a hockey player whose vocabulary is the only thing smaller than a hockey puck, a book smart but aimless ventriloquist with too many voices in her head, a dilapidated old house that may or may not be haunted, and no cheating or cliffhangers.

Beauty and the BeefcakeBeauty and the Beefcake by Pippa Grant
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 out of 5 ‘What is it about these giant hulk men??’ Stars

I have read a lot of books by Pippa Grant recently. They all are interconnected but can all be read as standalones. But why just read one? Read them all!!!!! These books are uproariously hilarious! And they get you in the feels too. Seems like a win-win to me.

I was a little more than curious if there was ever going to be a story involving Ares. The silent hulk of a hockey god that is the twin half of Zeus. Ares is the complete opposite of Zeus, who is fun-loving with a crazy personality. Ares who ‘talks’ more with grunts and gifs than actual words. So how could there possibly be a story where the great Ares falls in love? How do you fall in love without a lot of words??

Felicity has a way with words and more than just her own words. As a hobby ventriloquist, Felicity has a running commentary of not only her own voice but that of three maybe four other characters as well. Ok at first I was a little weirded out by the whole ventriloquist thing. I mean, this girl who talks in her characters’ voices….all the time. During regular conversation, by herself, even during sex!! Super weird. Buuuuuuut as I continued to read, I have to say that the whole ventriloquist thing started to grow on me and I got used to the ‘other’ voices interjecting their opinions. Felicity herself was hilarious and her strange magnetic attraction to everyone of the opposite sex was an enigma in and of itself. She had men crawling all over her and her weirdness!!

This story got me all in the feels when I could read from Ares POV. Being inside his mind was…..amazing and humbling. I hated how resigned he was to not finding love and his happily ever after. How quick everyone was to judge the things that they don’t know about or understand. Just because Ares doesn’t say much, people assumed he was dumb or couldn’t do for himself. Felicity saw through Ares. She SAW Ares. I loved every single word!!

This story was the Pippa Grant I know and love!! I can’t get enough of her crazy writing style! These people are freaking hysterical and I so want them to be my friends!!! Sooooooo….who’s falling in love next?

Happy Reading!!
